ਸਵਾਲ ਜਵਾਬ · TEN HONEST ANSWERS

Frequently Asked Questions

Short, honest answers to the ten questions Burlington bird owners ask Amir most. If you are looking for full-service boarding with handling, enrichment, and daily updates, this page should save you some time — Amir does not offer any of that, and the rate reflects it.

We charge a flat rate per cage, not per bird. Fifty dollars flat per cage for the whole trip, any length 3 to 21 nights — same price whether you are gone for a long weekend or three full weeks. Short stays under 3 nights and long stays over 21 nights bill at $12 per cage, per day. A drop-in check at your own home is $7 per visit if you would rather leave your bird at home. Up to three small birds share one cage at the flat rate. No per-bird surcharges, no weekend premiums, no enrichment fees, no update fees.
We only accept small caged birds: budgies and parakeets, cockatiels, finches, canaries, lovebirds, small conures, doves, and parrotlets. We do not accept macaws, cockatoos, African Greys, Amazons, Eclectus, Pionus, large conures, or any other medium or large parrot. We also do not take raptors, waterfowl, poultry, or any bird that does not live in a standard travel or home cage.
Because we stripped out everything that costs a boarder extra time. No out-of-cage time, no enrichment program, no photo updates, no video calls, no care journal, no pre-stay consultations, no custom care plans. We only take small caged birds, so one quiet room holds many cages, and the per-cage labour cost is low. Those savings go straight to the rate.
No. Your bird stays inside its own cage for the entire duration of the stay. We do not open the cage door, put birds on a play gym, or allow supervised flight time. If daily out-of-cage time is important to your bird, please book a full-service avian boarder — this is not the right service for you.
No. We do not send daily photos, we do not schedule video calls, and we do not keep a written care journal. If you would like to check in during your trip, you can message us through the booking form and we will reply with a plain-text update on how your bird is doing. No news from us means your bird is fine.
Bring your bird in its own cage, a supply of the food it normally eats, and any medications with written dosing instructions. That is everything. We do not supply premium seed mixes, specialty pellets, toys, or perches — whatever is already in your cage is what your bird will have for the stay.
No. Our flat rate is per cage, not per bird. Up to three small birds sharing the same cage are all boarded at the single flat rate. Three budgies in one cage cost the same as one budgie: $50 flat for the whole trip. This is the entire point of our pricing model.
We can administer simple, once- or twice-daily oral medications that you pre-measure and leave with clear written instructions. We do not handle injections, tube feedings, multi-step medication protocols, or any treatment that requires specialist training. If your bird has complex medical needs, please book with a full-service avian boarder.
During the twice-daily glance, if we see an obvious sign of distress — such as your bird being fluffed up, not eating, bleeding, or lying at the bottom of the cage — we message you immediately through the booking form. You are responsible for arranging veterinary care. We do not transport birds to the vet as part of the flat rate.
There is no consultation. Fill out the booking form with your dates, your bird's species, and any medication notes. We confirm or decline within one business day. If confirmed, you drop off your cage, pay the flat rate at the end of the stay, and pick up when you're back. Start to finish, it is a one-form process.
